Position Overview:

As an Electrician 2, you will:

• Perform electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs at CCC facilities statewide.
• Work alongside Corpsmembers on construction and energy efficiency projects.
• Provide basic electrical training to Corpsmembers within the Energy Corps program.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and electrical codes.

Qualifications:

• Certified electrician who meets the minimum qualifications of the Electrician 2 classification.
• Strong leadership and communication skills to mentor Corpsmembers.
• Willingness to travel statewide for project assignments.

Working Conditions

The canidiate selected for this position will report to the Sacramento Center located at 570 Bercut Drive, Sacramento, CA 95811  

Special Requirements

• Medical Exam – a medical clearance examination is required for this classification. 

• Must possess a valid California driver's license when conducting State business requiring driving a vehicle.

• Must pass the State of CA Electrician Exam and currently on the list.

• Background Investigation – Undergo fingerprinting and successfully pass a Criminal Offender Record Information check completed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) which may or may not also include a background check through the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Coaching and/or Mentoring experience; Electrical, or general construction experience; ability to prioritize deadlines; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; Leadership skills, Strong communication skills, Ability to work statewide, experience developing training materials, ability to speak and train large groups of people in a classroom environment.

Eligibility Information

In order to be considered for the job vacancy you must satisfy one of the following requirements: 

1. List Eligibility – Successfully complete the civil service exam for classification NOTE: Please refer to the exam bulletin for the frequency of administration of this exam.
2. Transfer Eligibility – Must have current employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable. If in a different classification, you must meet the minimum qualifications (see Minimum Qualifications section and associated links above).
3. Reinstatement Eligibility – Previously obtained permanent employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable. If in a different classification, you must meet the minimum qualifications (see Minimum Qualifications section and associated links above.
4. Training & Development (T&D) Assignment – State employees in a permanent appointment, and no longer on probation, may be considered for a T&D assignment.
