Environmental Health & Safety
The Campus Fire Marshal serves as the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for the University of Arkansas. This role ensures campus-wide fire and life safety by enforcing codes, inspecting complex building systems, and bridging the gap between education and enforcement. The Fire Marshal protects a dynamic campus environment by reviewing construction plans, managing hazardous materials compliance, and leading emergency response coordination.
Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Physical Demands: Must pass a physical exam; must be able to wear a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) or respirator. Must be able to lift/carry up to 75 lbs and walk for extended periods. Must maintain a personal physical fitness level that allows for effective job performance.
Environmental Exposure: Moderate exposure to extreme temperatures, smoke, chemicals, loud noises, and confined spaces. Work is performed both in an office setting and in the field.
